White Chocolate Peppermint Bark

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are enjoying the holidays. We sure are! We are keeping it simple and Homespun here a Star Cottage, by making the majority of our gifts this year. So needless to say, we've been quite busy.
I posted Pictures on Facebook a couple of days ago, of The Girls and I, making White Chocolate Peppermint Bark. One of my favorite things to make. And due to the overwhelming number of phone calls and e-mails asking me for the recipe etc. I decided to just post the recipe Here. It is so easy to make and its a really fun project for kids ;) It's always a hit at parties. It Makes for great chrismas gifts for friends, family, teachers, neighbors, etc. I Hope you all enjoy the recipe and have a fabulous Christmas Season with your families.  And don't forget Jesus is the Reason! ;)
God Bless, Molly

White Chocolate Peppermint Bark
You will need about 2 1/2 lbs of White Chocolate Wafers, the kind you make molded candies with.
And 1 full cup of crushed peppermint candies, (Put candies in ziplock bags and let the Kids go to town hitting it with a wooden spoon, ladle, etc.)
Melt the chocolate it in a double boiler. Then stir in 3/4 cups of the crushed peppermint candies and mix well (save a quarter cup of the candy bits to sprinkle on top when you are done)
using a rubber spatula, spread the chocolate mixture onto a waxpaper lined cookie sheet (the bigger the cookie sheet, the thinner the bark and vice-versa) Then to finish it off, Sprinkle with the leftover candy bits to make it pretty ;)
Let it cool over night (Hide it from the midnightsnacking Hubby) and then break it into bits in the morning.

*Variations*
You can switch out the peppermint for crushed lemon candies instead, and it's amazing! Or use Dark Chocolate and Crushed Almonds or Craisins etc. Have fun expirimenting with different kinds of Chocolate and crushed goodies.

Somebody's sad because she didn't want to share the candies with anyone ;(
Then Edy the Sweetie got happy, when she found out she got to crush them to bits ;)

Mother's Day

For Mother's day this year, Kevin and the girls made me a beautiful card. The girls had so much fun playing with paper and scissors and glue with Daddy. I love the card! I put it on the shelf above my desk. It makes me smile every time I look at it.Daddy also kept the Girls occupied while I had the morning to myself to do some sewing. I was so happy to have a few hours of uninterupted craft time, as I have lots and lots of projects that need to get finished before Baby Chloe arrives. And as if that wasn't enough. They blessed me with 15 rose bushes for a hedge I wanted to make. We planted them along with the two bushes Kevin gave me years ago. Now we have quite the variety. From climbers, to tea roses, to everblooming, and super fragrant in all sorts of colors. He also put up a 40ft long split rail fence for me. I am so pleased with the hedge, It all turned out so beautiful. I can't imagine what it will look like when the roses are full grown. (Here are a few of the roses already in bloom)
I love my roses and enjoy cutting them and bringing them inside. I told my hubby long ago not to waste his money on buying me bouquets of flowers that die within a week, but to please give me plants instead, because then, not only does it make our yard look nice, but if I really want a bouquet on the table I can just go out and pick one ;)

Bronchitis for the Holidays

We are extremely blessed to have such good natured and easy girls.
Over the holidays we were all pretty sick and when the Dr said she was going to prescribe us all a nebulizer every four hrs, for our Bronchitis. I thought to myself. Well this ought to be fun, trying to get the Girls to use this, but it was our only hope. The Bronchitis was viral and the Dr couldn't give us any antibiotic. I was relieved that the Girls did such a good job. Eden wanted to sit in my lap and have me hold it she hates loud noises and was afraid of the motor. But she did it without a fight and Lily wanted to do it all by herself. She did a fabulous job, and we were so proud of her.

I hate seeing my kids suffer when they are sick, and it was tough to keep up with it all especially when I am sick and pregnant and not getting much sleep.

Praise the Lord, I am so glad it's over. It felt like it lasted forever.

Oh Christmas Tree...

...poor Christmas Tree.

I finally planted the Christmas tree. Our cottage is small, and we don't have room for a big old Christmas Tree. So we thought little potted ones would be a great alternative, and then we can plant them in the back yard when we are finished. I had been putting off getting it into the ground because I didn't think I could move it on my own. It had been sitting quite pretty by the front door for months. Dec 25th to be exact. I took it outside as soon as I had packed away the decorations. We were advised @ the nursery that you can only keep them indoors for a short time if you plan on planting them outside again.

It looks so teeny next to the Big old pine trees that were here when we bought the place nearly 4 yrs ago. I am so glad all the trees are now inside the fence. Speaking of the fence. We are going to stain it this year finally, I know it's about time. But I am torn between practical and pretty. I have always loved the "cottage" look of white, but our deck was stained that reddish/brown "natural" color when we got here, Lily's play house is that natural color as well and so is one of our picnic tables. I'd really like everything to match, But I think White might look better with our "cottage" since it is White with Navy Blue trim. All the men in my life, of course think it should be stained "Natural" because it is less maintenance and blends in with the surrounding trees etc.

Definately share your opinions with me, as I am having a tough time trying to decide.

My Little Red Caboose

Last year for mothers day, my darling hubby took me out to get a new bike with a basket of course and a little red caboose for the kiddo's. They love it. He also got me a roof rack so we can take the bikes to some trails and also when we go camping. But my favorite thing to do is to go riding around the neighborhood as a family. It is so much fun. Our neighborhood reminds me of the movie "Pleasantville". It's just a bunch of culdesacs all connected together. And all our neghbors are awesome. When we first moved to the neighborhood, I was expecting my first child, so we went on lots of walks and had to stop and ask for directions back to our house. It was really funny and a little embarrassing. Anyways, We go for a ride every evening when daddy gets home from work, weather permitting, we took the winter off of course. It's great excersise and it gives Kevin and I a chance to chit chat while we ride, and best of all our Girls are having so much fun that they are quiet and our conversation is uninterupted. Lovely! Today was another beautiful day in the 80's, so Kevin busted out the camera, we had to get a picture of Hailey in the little red caboose with The Girls. She got groomed today. I'm not used to it yet. She looks so funny without all her hair. Hailey didn't last very long in the caboose, she ran very well beside me though. And seemed to like it.
Oh and don't worry I wore bike shorts under my skirt just incase.

Hope you all had a lovely day :)

Daddy's Little Girl

It starts with a toss Joy & laughter and a catch in Daddy's arms. Saying, between giggles, "That was fun Daddy do it again! "And Mommy holds her breath as he does it again.
I have the best Hubby and my girls are so blessed to have such a wonderful Daddy. I love these moments.

We went to Grampa's Lake House for Easter Dinner. Where we had fish of course. (Grampa is quite the fisherman and is famous for his fish fry.) Yum! Lily was so excited to help. Happy Easter everyone.

Christmas In New England

What a wonderful month. We spent our Christmas in New England visiting Family and Friends. It was great to see everyone. We spent a little time in Mass. Then we headed up to Maine, where we spent most of our days relaxing and sipping hot cocoa by the fire @ my Folks 2nd Home on the Saco. All the while my parents enjoyed playing with and spoiling the Girls. It was beautiful up there. We all took a trip to my Sister's Alpaca Farm in Sanford. Lily and Eden loved all the animals @ the farm. We all had a great time, and were sad to leave. But, we look forward to heading out to Maine again this summer. And someday we hope to move back there. We shall see what God has planned for us.My Awesome sister Karrie and her Hubby Steve, Are so good with the girls.

Lily Belle had a blast. Sha was absolutely fearless. She Called them giraffes. I thought it was fabulous! I loved seeing her so happy. I want a farm so bad. ;)
