"Star Cottage"

I've been thinking about Changing the Name of my Blog for quite some time. It used to be "Life in Lake Country", but then this winter, we thought we were moving (and still might) so I had changed it to "Molly's Midnight Musings" because I do most of my blogging when the munchkins are sleeping, and so the title could follow us wherever we lived. Some of my friends and family liked the new name and thought it was cute, and others joked about it sounding a little inappropriate, if you know what I mean. And I suppose if you Googled that title, you might get a little more than you bargained for. So I have been thinking more about what I love and what reflects me personally, as this blog is a journal of sorts.
"Star Cottage" is what we lovingly call our home. Stars can be found in every corner, and soon there will be stars on my shutters. :) I can't wait. But the brightest and most treasured stars, are my two daughters. And although we may move someday, this is where our family began, a lot of blood sweat and tears have been put into making this a home we all enjoy. This title can follow us wherever we go, because our first home will always be dear to our hearts and bring back wonderful memories.
So if you are looking for me, I'll be @ "Star Cottage" http://starcottage.blogspot.com/

Puddle Jumping & Snow Stomping

I feel like I am back home in New England. Our spring out here in NY has been incredibly crazy. One day we are wearing T-shirts and shorts, the next day we are pulling the winter coats out of the attic (yes I put them away too early) and then the next day we are donning rain gear. Our yard is a little lower than our neighbors and we seem to get all the run off. It has made for a pretty muddy yard. And a very busy mop. I can't stand to be cooped up in the house, so we have been outside rain or shine and I will be so happy when the yard is mud free. Yesterday, Eden lasted 5 mins before she was covered. She, like Lily didn't quite like being dirty and they started to cry. Plus I'm sure the mud was cold. So I gave them both a nice warm bath and dressed them back up to do it all over again, but this time we went out front and rode bikes in the driveway. And when daddy got home we headed to the park down the street. The wood chips keep it nice and dry. I would love a designated play area with wood chips or round stone for the kids to play in the back yard without getting all soaked in mud. That would be lovely.
Now Brace yourselves for tons of pictures, After all I got into all this blogging business to keep my mom up to date on all the happenings with the family. And what Grandma doesn't want to see lots of pics of her little grandbabies havin fun @ the park.

Heading Home, Eden trying to sneak in another round on the play set. She kept saying, "One more one more!"

*Seeing Stars IIII* Country Stars

I saw this Lovely Bunny adorned in Stars in one of the venders booths @ the Flower Show.
Yes, I take pictures of pretty little things I like, it saves me from spending money and cluttering up my house with knick knacks and other things I don't need. :)

*Seeing Stars III* Starfish

*Stars* in my Living room :)

My friend Saralynn gave me this one. Isn't it a beauty!
The Starfish pillow I made.

This was my first quilt ever. I made it freshman year of high school. My bedroom was all starry and pretty. I cut different sized *stars* out of sponges and used gold craft paint and stamped them all over my walls. So fun. I surprised my mom. Thankfully she liked it. And I didn't get in trouble. So glad I kept this one. It's great for snugling on the couch.Three *stars* above the couch. This starfish below, was from Kevin's Grandparent's trip to Hawaii. And the Sand dollar (if you look close they have a stars on them too you know ;) Was from Kevin's dad, he found it when he went out to the coast of Oregon.
*Stars* in the bathroom. Most of the shells in the bathroom are from my hubby. He buys them by the bagful, cause he knows how much I love them. But the coral and the fat nubby star is from his Grandparents trip to Hawaii. This little starfish box was a gift from my friend Katie, Gosh a long long time ago. We have been best friends since second grade. So I can't remember when she gave it to me, but I love it, and I put my jewelry in it when I take a shower, so I don't lose it down the drain.
*Stars* in the girls room.
I used a shower curtain in place of a door on the closets in the bedrooms. We had bi-fold doors and I hated them, too many pinched fingers.
I found these sheets @ TJ Maxx for 15 dollars (Queen Size) Now that's a deal! Only ones left and just the right size. I always take that as a sign. :) And *stars* on me :)
My favorite necklace :) When I had Lily I learned that babies and jewelry don't mix. No dangly earrings that's for sure, and many of my necklaces had gotten snapped in the grips of curious little fists. So for the past three years I have been stringing my favorite pendants on ribbons cause ribbon is fairly inexpensive, doesn't break as easily ( if it does I don't care) and I can switch the colors to match my outfits. I used to do the same thing back in high school, in my hippie days. Simple but pretty.

And I love sparkly Hair pieces, however the camera that I am borrowing from Grampa Gary doesn't seem to like them as much. It's a point and shoot, and I could hear the auto focus getting confused and grumbling about it as I was trying to take a picture of the back of my head. Haha Same with the sunglasses. The light was bouncing off them like crazy. But these have stars on either side. They are my favorite pair. I am surprised I haven't lost them or sat on them yet. :)
See you tomorrow with more stars. I am going to venture outside to find some more.

*Seeing Stars II* Star Fruit

Yay it's Monday! The official start of Star Week. :) My Lily saw this fruit @ Wegmans last week and wanted to give it a try. Kevin and I thought it would be fun too, so we brought one home and we all gathered round the table and had a bite. Yuck! Haha I was so surprised that such a beautiful fruit could be so grody. The girls liked it though. Especially Eden, she will eat just about anything. You can jump in at anytime. Just let me know, so I can stop by and see your lovely star finds. I will also add a link to your blog. Go ahead and get the kids involved.
Be sure to check out Pamela @ French Knots. She has a lovely blog and will be participating in *star week* as well.
Hope you have fun seeing stars! We sure are.

*Seeing Stars*

I have a bit of a star obsession. I have had it since I was little. I insisted on being called "Rainbow Star" And would go by no other name. (I loved rainbow brite too. ) So the reason that I am enamored by them, it is not a result of the massive Barn Star explosion or trend. However I am happy that wherever I go, I see stars now :) And I love starfish too of course. So I thought I would start a Star week on Monday.
The pic above is a yellow star mirror from my hallway, as a sneak peak, for next week. :)
Hope you all have a great weekend & start snappin' some photos if you want to join the fun. Comment if you would like to participate. Don't be shy, photos don't have to be fancy I am a beginner myself.
